J.Ryan Beretti was revealed to audiences of major Country Music Festivals in France in 1997.
He will undoubtedly be one of the international stars of Country Rock in the coming years.
It all started in 1977. At the age of 5, he discovered Elvis Presley who became his idol,
and in the following years, he discovered Rock'n'Roll, the Blues, Gospel and Country Music.
Born in Saint-Etienne (France) in 1972, Jay experienced local success at the age
of 17 at his high school with his first group "The
Pain Flowers".
From then on, his one aim was to be a singer !
In 1995, Jay met his future musicians "The Jive Stompers", and his future manager Jacques Naud at a concert
in France. The same year, he won the European "Elvis Presley contest" on the French Riviera
in France and opened the show for D.J. Fontana, Elvis's legendary drummer.
With "The Jive
Stompers" he recorded a first demo in June 1996, including a mindblowing "I washed my
hands in muddy water", which earned him gigs at many european festivals.
The year 1997 was decisive. He played the biggest Country Music Festivals (Mirande,
Country Festival Côte d'Azur, Salaise, Niederbronn, etc...). He was selected by Graceland
to represent France at Memphis in August during the tribute paid to Elvis Presley 20 years
after his death and went down a storm. At this time, he appeared on the French National
TV channel TF1.
The same month, he toured the US opening for Big Al Downing and staggering the american
public with his powerful voice, swagger and stage antics. After this big success, Big Al Downing
decided to write seven songs for Jay and to produce his first album "Runaway Heart".
Jerry Phillips (son of Sam Phillips who is the founder of the legendary "Sun Records" in Memphis)
provided two songs, "Cadillac man" and "Happy at home" which is released for the first time.
An amazing production for a first album !
In September 2001, Jay started a new tour in the United States, appearing at such famous
venues as "Rodeo Bar" in New-York, "Elvis Presley's Memphis, in Pensylvania, New Jersey.....
Without betraying his original influences J.Ryan Beretti has forged his own style.
Equally at home with Country Music as with Rock'n'Roll, his explosive gigs stun audiences.
His physique, astonishing stage presence and style sometimes tinged with Gospel or
Blues, combined with his boundless energy, have made J.Ryan Beretti one of the most
spectacular artists around.
